Top 10 TV Shows That Have Ended

Top 10 TV Shows That Have Ended

Ever since Netflix along with the other entertainment streaming networks has started to release its own content, keeping up with all the shows worth watching has become a major task.
At times I have found myself searching all day for a new TV series to follow and still I could not find myself settling on any one television series because of the plethora of choices that are now available. Also, watching a newly released season is a bit of risk for me because what happens when the cliffhanger at the end of the season leaves you anticipating for the start of the next season, but you find out that the show has been cancelled?
Moreover, having to wait for months for the next season to go on air becomes quite frustrating at times. Therefore I feel that it is sometimes best to wait for the entire series to come to an end so that you can easily binge watch whenever time allows you to.
This post is a response to all those viewers who frequently search for good shows that have ended to watch. While there are too many good seasons to choose from, I have compiled a list of the top 10 TV shows that have been all-time favorites of the audience while they were on air.

10. The Vampire Diaries

Based on a series of novels by L. J. Smith, The Vampire Diaries centers on the lives of Elena Gilbert and the Salvatore brothers in a small fictional town, Mystic Falls. Elena, a high school student, is trying to come to terms with the grief of losing both her parents in a tragic car accident. She bumps into Stefan Salvatore, a handsome and mysterious new student and finds herself being drawn to him, unaware that he is a centuries-old vampire.
She also meets his brother, Damon Salvatore, who is initially the antagonist of the show. However, by the time Elena finds out the truth about the Salvatore’s, it is too late for her to go back to her normal life. With other vampires trying to get to her, both Stefan and Damon take it upon themselves to protect her and her friends.

9. The Originals

The Originals was a spin-off show of The Vampire Diaries, but it ended up gaining more popular than the original show. Featuring the original vampire family, the series follows the lives of the Mikaelsons as they fight to take control of New Orleans city whilst protecting Klaus’s daughter from his enemies.

8. One Tree Hill

Set in the fictional town of Tree Hill, this TV series follows the lives of two high school half-brothers, Nathan Scott and Lucas Scott, who start off as enemies vying for positions on the basketball team but later on learn the true meaning of family. If you like high school drama shows, One Tree Hill should be on the top of your list.

7. How I Met Your Mother

The series is an American sitcom that follows Ted Mosby and his group of friends in Manhattan as Ted recounts to his son and daughter the events that eventually led him to meet their mother. With its humor and integration of unique dramatic elements, How I Met Your Mother managed to gain a cult following throughout the entire time it was on air.

6. Dexter

An American television crime drama series, the show is based on the life of Dexter Morgan who is a forensic technician for Miami’s police department. But all is not what it seems as Dexter also leads a second life of a serial killer who hunts down murderers that managed to slip away from the fictional Miami Metro Police Department’s justice system.
If you prefer shows that include crime and mystery, you are sure to love this show.

5. Prison Break

Prison Break is a thrilling story revolving around the lives of two brothers. Lincoln Burrows is sent to prison for a crime that he did not commit and has been sentenced to death. His brother, Michael Scofield, is a structural engineer who helped build the prison. He devises a crazy plan to help his brother escape prison and clear his name.

4. Breaking Bad

Widely regarded as one of the greatest television series of all time, Breaking Bad deals with the common problems of a middle-class man with a family.
A powerful script paired with perfectly delivered dialogues, Breaking Bad became an instant hit amongst viewers with its relatable storyline. Walter White is a chemistry teacher who gets diagnosed with lung cancer.
In order to secure his family’s future before he dies, White uses his knowledge of chemistry to produce and sell crystallized methamphetamines along with his former student Jesse Pink man.

3. House

Dr. Gregory House, the series’ main character, is a misanthropic medical genius who leads a team of diagnosticians at a fictional hospital in New Jersey. Disobeying hospital rules and basing his hypotheses about patients’ illnesses on subtle insights frequently cause conflicts between him and his fellow physicians and Dr. Lisa Cuddy.

2. Gilmore girls

With its mix of wit, humor and drama and a cross-generational appeal, Gilmore girls is one of those shows that you can never get tired of. Gilmore girls is based in a small fictional town filled with colorful characters.
Lorelai Gilmore, a single mother, moves to Stars Hollow to raise her daughter Rory Gilmore. The series is a combination of issues related to family, education, friendship and romance.

1. Friends

In my opinion, the number one spot has and perhaps will always belong to this magical TV series which can make you happy on your darkest days, cure you of your boredom while making you laugh until your stomach hurts.
You could have Friends on a virtual loop and it tends to never get old. Centering on the lives of six friends in New York City, Friends is the perfect American sitcom.
